Location
The site is situated in an established residential area in the village of Hirwaun, three miles north of Aberdare. The surrounding area is mixed residential housing.

The site is a well vegetated, undulating plateau, more or less level with the A4059 Heads of the Valleys dual carriageway to the south. At the northern, western and eastern margins, the land falls away steeply to meet the surrounding profiles.

Outline Planning Permission was granted on 8th June, 2009 under Application No. 08/1577/15 for the residential development of land at the rear of Trewaun, Hirwaun Road, Aberdare, subject to twenty conditions.
