Dispute Resolution
Governed by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Practice Statement and Guidance Note “surveyors acting as expert witnesses”, Herbert R Thomas Chartered Surveyors are qualified to represent parties who are involved in dispute resolution.
Dispute Resolution is unique within RICS, because dispute avoidance, management and resolution are areas of professional practice in which Surveyors of all disciplines are at one time or another, involved. The dispute resolution process requires proficient communication and negotiation skills to achieve a settlement, whether through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedures, i.e. arbitration, independent expert determination, adjudication, mediation or litigation.
Chartered Surveyors at Herbert R Thomas are often asked to appear as Expert Witness, appointed either by the parties or by the courts in disputes which involve the valuation of property. The track record of experience and the credibility are important factors in such matters and Herbert R Thomas personnel are well equipped in this regard.
