Herbert R Thomas has donated 260 chocolate selection boxes to the pupils of Y Bont Faen primary school in Cowbridge. The selection boxes were presented to the children at a special assembly where pupils demonstrated their musical talents by playing a number of Christmas songs on the guitar and piano. The assembly featured a surprise visit from Santa who gave the pupils their selection boxes.

HRT recently announced that it was sponsoring Y Bont Faen’s PTA for a second year running. As part of the sponsorship, HRT will be attending many of the school’s events during the school year, such as the summer fayre and summer ball. Following the success of last year’s digital photography masterclass, HRT will also look to run the masterclass again for pupils, to continue developing their digital skills.

Having had a presence in Cowbridge since 1926, HRT is a keen supporter of the local community and has also recently announced it has agreed to sponsor Cowbridge RFC for another three years.

Gavin Rees, director at HRT, said: “It was great to see the smiles on all of the children’s faces when they were given the presents by Santa. We really enjoyed the musical performances by several of the pupils and there is definitely a lot of raw talent to keep an eye on in the future.

“Next year is our 90th anniversary and we feel we have become a part of the town’s landscape over these years so supporting the local community and charity events is something that is very important to us.

“Business has been really good this year and we’re glad we’re in a strong position to continue supporting Y Bont Faen PTA and our other sponsorships, such as Cowbridge RFC.”

Julia Adams, head teacher of Y Bont Faen, said: “We’d like to thank HRT for the kind Christmas gifts for all of the children. It was definitely a nice way for the pupils to celebrate the end of term. We’re looking forward to working with HRT more in 2016.”
