Rent Smart Wales - Landlords
What is Rent Smart Wales?
Rent Smart Wales is the compulsory registration and licensing scheme for private landlords and agents in Wales, in place since 23 November 2015. Private rented homes in Wales are let under occupation contracts (Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016), and tenants are known as contract-holders.
Registration is required for every landlord
If you self-manage, you will need the correct Rent Smart Wales licence and training. If you use a licenced agent such as Herbert R Thomas, you will not need your own licence however you will need to register with Rent Smart Wales and simply link to our licence.
